In 2013, Edward Snowden leaked files detailing government surveillance and data collection through programs such as PRISM. Using PRISM, the U.S. government was able to gather communications directly from major tech companies including Google, Facebook, and Microsoft.
For exposing the corruption, Snowden’s actions were deemed criminal, and he now lives as a wanted fugitive from the criminal organization he exposed.
