"If they get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about the answers."
Thomas Pynchon captured the entirety of political reality in around twenty syllables decades ago with this quote and it rings more true than the autonomy most of us believe we still have. How much of the lexicon is codified? Can any of us with any sincerity of effort peer through the murk and minutia to differentiate any true liminality of the political, ideological, cultural, and social? And even if we could, would we agree on where any of these are appropriately located in society? If so, would a vast amount of us allow our preferences to enable those who mince words and feelings with fear and flattery to mix them all the fuck back up again once we have them all in their rightful and sane places? And who's to say what is rightful and sane and in place about each one?
The figureheads of our two party system in the U.S. are heavily invested in convincing you that they are not confusing or conflating any of the four aforementioned categories. They know who you are and exactly what to imply to the suggested narratives for the sake of their vision of ordered civic engineering and commerce. The reverse side of this is provoking measured opposing reactionism, another form of control and corral. Place the narratives on their sides and still, the third response is apolitical apathy rendered into the oblivion of thousands upon thousands of 'who gives a fucks'. A numbing akin to a mild trauma response.
How many words or phrases can you name that have words with definitions that have been redefined? How many have been subverted or been co-opted as buzz words? What about a few that seem to consistently evoke the obligatory pejorative, even though the word may itself be actively used several other ways? This may be all worth some consideration. Words will continue to shepherd those who would be sheared by them and to be a salient respite for the would be sovereign.
Perhaps considering two speculative observations made by author Philip K. Dick during the Cold War are in order here:
"The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words."
&
"There will come a time when it isn't 'They're spying on me through my phone' anymore. Eventually, it will be 'My phone is spying on me.'"
Here is where we find ourselves, amidst a tech-circus born into existence like Edward Bernays' and Ayn Rand's illegitimate progeny's dystopian reality that we consumed our way into. Spyware in our pockets and every known and unknown facet of our lives. Total Information Awareness became Terrorism Information Awareness and continued to expand, engorging itself upon every sector, public and private. This ever darkening accelerationism will not end. History is being altered at the same hypnotic speed in which our present can be manufactured. Narratives are partitioned by the self importance of opinions and the feigned experiential understandings of all information provided and sought, as we drown in the simultaneity of simulacra baths of bullshit and blue light.
These days the psy-op is self supporting. All of us, endogenous social co-engineers perpetuating the farce.
And,
you're all bugged.
